Impressions Dental is proud to say we have replaced our conventional x-ray machines in favor of their modern, more convenient and efficient digital counterparts. The benefits these devices offer cannot be overstated, particularly when it comes to patient safety and well-being. Not only do they take much shorter to complete (most images can be taken and viewed within seconds); they use approximately 90% less radiation than conventional film x-ray machines.
For many years, these analog devices were relied on by dentists worldwide to help diagnose and treat patients. They give medical staff the ability to pinpoint the source of oral health problems, which is a necessary precursor to appropriate treatment. With the advent of digital x-rays, Impressions Dental CG can now complete our examinations in less time and at less cost.
Digital X-rays Comparison to Conventional Imaging
- Clear, consistent quality
The main downsize to conventional x-ray prints is that in order for ideal image clarity to be achieved, exposure factors must be strictly maintained. Digital x-rays, on the other hand, can produce equivalent clarity within 30% threshold. Increased dynamic resolution range compensates for potential human error.
Once the image has been taken, our staff can easily magnify, adjust the contrast and density and even add annotated text for future review. The latter is especially important for photos that are sent to oral surgeons and other specialists, which takes us to the next point.
Since they are stored in an electronic database, a patient’s x-rays can instantly be transmitted to the desired party. This significantly reduces waiting times and prevents accidental record loss.
There is no need for a darkroom or file room. Armed with the x-ray machine and a computer, the dentists at Impressions Dental can take hundreds of photos every day at a much cheaper cost. These savings are passed directly onto our patients; fewer operating expenditures is great for everyone.
